The Show is a weekly variety format video series. It’s produced by Tiger Bailey (HyperTigerXT), and it goes live on at 7pm Sunday nights, Melbourne (Australia) Time. One of the driving concepts behind The Show comes from the fact that Tiger has severe ADHD, and thus has difficulty sustaining attention on most inputs for an extended period of time. Because of this, Tiger finds a lot of YouTube videos difficult to consume, and so they decided to create something that they’d be able to watch.
What came from this experiment, was a compilation of short, not-necessarily-related segments that range in length from 10 seconds to 2 minutes and 30 seconds, all stuck together to make a single video that’s somewhere between 5 and 15 minutes long. Part of the nature of The Show is that it’s able to evolve and change from week to week, and so there’s never a week where all of the segments are exactly the same. The only consistent element in each episode is that it must contain a video game review.
When asked what they considered The Show’s defining features to be, the audience responded with numerous suggestions. The content theme of The Show is, by design, built around overwhelming positivity. There are a great number of productions on YouTube that feature strong negative views, and overly harsh criticisms, and while there’s nothing inherently wrong with that in reasonable amounts, Tiger felt that a counterbalance was needed. The Show also tries to focus on diverse communities, and accessibility – two topics that Tiger is very passionate about. Oh, and there’s also the fact that The Show is, by and large, completely run and hosted by puppets.
